Epicly Later’d: Eric Dressen - Skateboarding documentary

Since it`s first episode in 2007, Patrick O'Dell`s Epicly Later'd has been one of our most loved online skate shows, covering and chronicling the life and behind-the-scenes stories of many different skaters. Today, many episodes later, it contains some of the most authentic and relevant skateboard documentaries produced ever and we always looking forward to the next new episode. So when it was announced that Eric Dressen is the next skater to get the Epicly Later’d treatment, alot of people from the Posse were pretty excited.

Unfortunatly many people who are not into skateboarding and even some of our young guns may not know who Eric Dressen is even though he was a pioneer of street skating had an important influence in skateboarding. Eric has been pro skater for five decades and might have been the only skater to be professional in the '70s banana board era and stay current and relevant into the '80s and '90s scene.

For that reason a documentary about Eric was long overdue and important or as Patrick O´Dell said: "It was great to give Eric a little more shine, and he totally deserves it. I feel that skateboarding is at an age when its' history needs to be written, and I don't want people like Eric forgotten to skaters of the future."

From contest skating in the 70s and 80s, to influencing several generations of street skaters, Eric Dressen’s history in skateboarding is one of the deepest. Turning pro in 1978 at the age of 13, and then going on to become a pioneer of street skating, Eric Dressen has had a very well-rounded career. He has witnessed firsthand the rise and fall of skateboarding three times, and each time affected Eric in a different way.

Today Eric skates for Santa Cruz and tattoos full time at Will Rise in Hollywood Fairfax.

The documentary starts with Eric`s early skateboarding roots all the way back to the mid 70s, and then focus on Eric´s return to skating in Venice and getting on Dogtown.

Unfortunatly the episode is splitted in 5 parts  and new segments will be launched every Thursday on Vice.com through February 14th.
